We brought our instant photo booth to our last wedding. Guests loved hamming it up in a series of poses — there was a big crowd around the booth all night! Everyone got a print for themselves, and one to paste into a keepsake album for the bride and groom. We’re having a ton of fun with this thing — it’s an amazing crowd-pleaser!

Gretchen and Thomas and the Blue Angels

Gretchen and Thomas saw each other for the first time on their wedding day in a quiet corner of Lincoln Park where they exchanged little gifts for one another. Then they and the wedding party were off to some Chicago hotspots for photography, especially locations that showed the grandeur and magnificence of Chicago architecture. With Blue Angels flying overhead in formation from the Air and Water Show, we found several great spots for fun photos. Then back to Lincoln Park for their ceremony among flowers and then on to A New Leaf for their reception where everyone was told the story by Thomas during his speech about when he fell in love with Gretchen at first sight.

Jacqueline + Matthew + St. Marys + Notre Dame

Jackie and Matt were married on July 17 and are coming in to approve their album design tomorrow! They want to have it finished before the school year starts, this might be the fastest we’ve ever finished a design.

Capture the Joy

I gave a brief talk this morning on my wedding and portrait photography to a networking group, Chicago Business Network. It covered what’s needed to properly document and photograph the major events in peoples lives and their families as they change and grow. I love photographing families and generations of families and contributing to their traditions of what is passed from one generation to another. People are the most photographed subjects in the world, ever since photography began! ;+) And that history is to capture someone as they are at the moment, right now, today, before they change, whether its an infant baby or a 4 generation picture from children to great grandparents. Whether its chasing a 1 year old around the room who is both on the phone and pushing her shopping cart or she is just learning to play the piano with little fingers on big piano keys, its important to Capture the Joy, that’s my studio’s new motto, Capture the Joy of life being lived in the moment with your family and loved ones.

If anyone knows of a group that would like me to speak to them about the importance of photographing their family and preserving family traditions while adding those fun moments that are so precious, I would like to hear from them. This is to show their album of course, and getting married at the Big Willy (formerly the Sears tower) but especially to show off the beautiful custom album that holds their wedding photos. This one is especially lovely and has an heirloom feel to it, its a little heavy and with a soft creamy leather on the cover accented perfectly by a textured stripe.

Joison + Rob Engagement Session

I met Joison and Rob at their family lake home outside Kalamazoo. We explored the nearby countryside, stopping to wander through a field of wildflowers… then stopped at a favorite local ice cream parlor!

Karaoke Night

Karake night at Sushi Samba with some corporate clients, intense meetings and sales strategy during the day and baseball, karaoke and drinking from the Stanley Cup at night. Yes, the Stanley Cup showed up, not at Sushi Samba but at a Wrigleyville rooftop club for a cubs game.
